Blue Ridge Georgia

Blue Ridge is another north Georgia tourist town. One of the main attractions is the train . It is the only train that runs through Georgia. Probably only passenger train. It is the center piece of downtown and the parking lots are packed with visitors who have come to take the train ride. Because of the train, the downtown is very vibrant with small stores selling all sorts of stuff.

Antique stores are everywhere in downtown Ellijay. Did not stay long as our destination is Blue Ridge Georgia. Neither Joe nor I had been to Blue Ridge so we do not really know what to expect.

About an hour north of Atlanta is Ellijay. One evening Joe and I had some friends over for dinner and one of the women was from Ellijay. She kept us in stiches about her relatives that made moonshine. So I had to see it. It is a very small town that has retained its historical buildings. The town square seems to be only antique stores. We stopped at the Corner Store Cafe and had lunch. The best BLT sandwich for under $5. A great bargain.

Lunch at Violette Restaurant; a small french restaurant near downtown Atlanta. Ambiance is very comfortable. The lunch menu simple. The food is simple also. But a fun way to spend a long lunch. Lunch concerned offering private tours to the UK and Italy. Restaurant has the same name as Ms Vicious. A good sign , definately.

Virginia Abandoned School

Virginia seems to be either corn fields that go on forever or large cities. Along the backroads, the most interesting thing to take a picture of were the abandoned buildings. Til Joe said he had enough.

Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont

Beautiful mansion and gardens located near Fredericksburg Virginia. Gari Melcher was a figure painter and his house and gardens overlook a river.
